EMPEROR
The Dutch framerunner
Framerunning is a para-athletic sport. The athlete walks or runs with a framerunner on a running track for different distances.
The framerunner is no longer an unknown phenomenon in the Dutch sports world. This three-wheeled walking frame without pedals, but with handlebars and a chest support, has been specially developed for children and adults with a physical disability (such as MS, syndromes, spina bifida, cerebral palsy or brain hemorrhage) to give them the opportunity to participate in sports. With the framerunner, these people with severe physical disabilities can also move by walking or running.
The framerunner has recently been produced by KS Custom Seating in the Netherlands. KS Custom Seating is a specialized company that has a lot of experience in developing (sports related) solutions for people, young and old, with various serious or less severe physical disabilities.
A couple of years ago we got in contact with Harry-Jan Keizer, he came with the question if we maybe could and would want to build a frame runner focused on being able to lower the bar in getting into the sport. The basic was to have a good frame that is adaptable, strong and has easily and replaceable parts. We started with a prototype that was quickly well received, from there we kept building and adapting the details. Through different moments we came in contact with more people very active in the sport. When we were at a yearly framerunning meet in Amersfoort we met Henk & Gerlinde and found out they were from Hengelo. Since that time we've been able to build more frames and have a spot to test our frames and receive feedback and make improvements.
The name of the frame comes from Keizer, which translates into Emperor in English, since he was the man who came to us with the question and set us on this path, I had decided to use this name for our framerunner.
Our frame runner can best tested an tried out at the Harry-Jan Keizer experience center. The setup of this center is that you can try out frames from other companies also. So the end user can make a well thought decision before they make a purchase.

The Big Emperor and the Little Emperor are supplied in blue as standard, at an additional cost it is possible to adjust the color to, for example, the color of a club or an association.
Our focus was on building a frame that lasts and where the parts can easily be replaced when needed. The frame is build and designed in the Netherlands and the build is done mostly local, the frame is build by Descotech Metal in Weerselo and the parts are supplied by Zwiep fietsen in Oldenzaal.
The part that holds the saddle can be adjusted for the right position, it is also a personal part so that the framerunner can be used by multiple people, they can just place their saddle on it and go, without the need to adjust everything on the framerunner. Excellent solution for organizations who need a good all rounder.
